About C’est Jeanne

C’est Jeanne is a glove and luxury brand based in The Netherlands, founded by me, Jeanne Hermans. I’m a dressmaker, and a graduate of the Master Tailor Institute in Amsterdam.

Over the years, I’ve gained experience working in several ateliers, including an embroidery studio, a bridal salon, and the costume department of the Dutch National Opera. After more than a decade of designing my own clothing and honing my craft, I decided to create C’est Jeanne: to share my passion for handcrafted garments with the world.

The brand started in 2017 as a focused project, limited in space and fabrics, but highly technical.

I’ve always been drawn to the technical side of garment making, and gloves, to me, felt mysterious and intriguing. While there’s plenty of guidance on sewing garments, information on glovemaking is rare. I love a technical challenge, and gloves offered the perfect one. One particular challenge that resonates with me is the limited space for creative freedom, which pushes me to see just how far I can stretch it.

My inspiration almost always begins with a specific technique I want to explore. While I am deeply inspired by the couture fashion of the 1950s and Art Nouveau aesthetics, the real driving force behind my designs is always the technical aspect. My process typically starts with spotting a technique that excites me, then imagining how to incorporate it into a design. This approach explains why my collections vary widely. I don’t confine myself to a single aesthetic, but rather find fresh ways to use techniques inspired by diverse styles.

C’est Jeanne began in my bedroom at my parents’ house, moved to a spare room in my own apartment, and now thrives in a spacious, bright studio within a creative hub near Amsterdam. It’s the perfect place to bring my work to life.

The name “C’est Jeanne” holds special meaning. First, it’s simply my name—Jeanne. I have French family and have always admired the French way of living.

More importantly, it reflects how I was raised: straightforward and matter of fact.

C’est Jeanne. This is Jeanne. This is what I do.

Ultimately, C’est Jeanne is about preserving the beauty of handmade craftsmanship, embracing technical skill, and creating pieces that feel timeless and personal.

Atelier Info

All gloves are handmade in my cozy studio nestled in Zaandam, the Netherlands.

Tucked inside a vibrant creative hub of makers and designers, this is where I spend my days surrounded by fabrics, patterns, and the tools of my craft.

The studio is equipped with everything needed to create gloves from scratch: industrial sewing machines, fine scissors, an array of fabrics in every color, delicate laces, and rows of ribbons in all shades. Having traditional and specialized tools at my fingertips allows me to experiment, refine, and perfect each design.

Every pair of gloves begins here, with a sketch or thought, carefully selected fabrics, and hand-drafted patterns. I personally cut every piece, hand-stitch delicate details, and shape each glove using the glovemaking techniques I’ve perfected over the years.

It’s a slow, thoughtful process, so no two pairs are ever exactly alike.

I cherish the quiet rituals of the studio: the shears gliding through mesh, the steady hum of the sewing machines, and the final careful inspection before each pair is boxed and sent out. It’s in these small details that the beauty and love of handmade craftsmanship truly come to life.

When you order a pair of gloves from me, you’re not just receiving a product; you’re holding a piece of the process, the craft, and the story behind it.
